Kieran used one of my live traps to catch this possum in Felicia's attic. It's pretty big: barely fits in the cage. He used Costco pizza for bait. It was delicious with wild mushrooms and anise.

Hiking in La Honda Creek Preserve

Our hiking group at Meetup.com had a great hike today through the La Honda Creek Preserve to see an ancient redwood tree and a giant Douglas Fir. It was a wonderful group of hikers and we were led by a fantastic docent from OpenSpace.org. This preserve is not open to the public, so we were fortunate to be able to hike here. Our next hike is September 9th.

My New Friend

It's amazing how many visitors drop by to munch on cat chow at night. This skunk is my latest new little friend. About an hour earlier, Ricky the raccoon was here. He's so friendly that I can just about pet him. If you click on the photo to see the enlarged version, you may notice how sharp his little teeth and front claws look. I'll try to get an up close photo next time.

Voodeux the Sphinx

I just purchased a Casio 10 mega pixel EX Z-1050. This photo of Voodeux shows the excellent resolution that can be achieved. This shot was extemporaneously captured without even looking at the LCD monitor. It came out very nicely with good composition and focus. It's one of my favorite pictures of Voodeux.

Rule One:You will receive a body. You may love it or hate it, but it will be yours for the duration of your life on Earth.

Rule Two:You will be presented with lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called 'life.' Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or hate them, but you have designed them as part of your curriculum.

Rule Three:There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of experimentation, a series of trials, errors, and occasional victories. The failed experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that work.

Rule Four:A lesson is repeated until learned. Lessons will be repeated to you in various forms until you have learned them. When you have learned them, you can then go on to the next lesson.

Rule Five:Learning does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.

Rule Six:'There' is no better than 'here'. When your 'there' has become a 'here,' you will simply obtain a 'there' that will look better to you than your present 'here'.

Rule Seven:Others are only mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself.

Rule Eight:What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you.

Rule Nine:Your answers lie inside of you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.

Rule Ten:You will forget all of this at birth. You can remember it if you want by unravelling the double helix of inner knowing.

Voodeux the Lizard Huntress

Voodeux has become quite an accomplished lizard huntress. This is a photo of her out on patrol in the wilds of Linnell's flower garden. She caught two lizards in two days.

Once she has cornered and captured her prey, she playfully tortures them to a slow lingering death and munches on their twitching carcasses and severed tails.

Memorial Day Scare

Linnell and I hiked down to the pump station at Mindigo creek near La Honda. It was beautiful and reminiscent of the grand canyon. When we got back to shower, Linnell found a tic embedded in her skin. The picture is after she took it off and put on the bathroom counter top. We then had a great BBQ with steaks and beer, but now we're all worried about Lyme disease.

Mom took Linnell and me to watch the glass blowers in Alameda. It was quite fascinating! This picture was taken while the demonstration was in progress. Mom's glasses look very stylish on her.

Mom received this shipment of chocolate dipped strawberries from Craig on Mother's Day. They were delicious and huge. The best gourmet strawberries I've ever enjoyed.
