More HDR Pictures

I hiked up to hiker’s hut again this morning and tried a few more HDR photos, without a tripod. They actually turned out (surprisingly)! I saw a large coyote that was too far away for a good photo. I think I’ll buy an inexpensive walking stick monopod for future treks.

HDR Photography

Here are photos from my first attempt at using HDR (High Dynamic Range) software. Very fascinating and sometimes astonishing surrealistic effects are possible. Click on each photo to get the full effect.

Photo Expedition

I dug out my old Canon EOS 10D digital SLR camera and walked around Shoreline Park in Mountain View this week. Then, the next day, I took the camera up the trail to Hiker’s Hut near La Honda. It was great to be out in the redwoods with banana slugs. I had forgotten how fun it is to go out hunting for interesting photo opportunities with a good camera.

Squirrel Helmet

Linnell and I saw this somewhere on the Internet and decided to try it ourselves. You cut a big hole in the bottom of a coconut and hang it outside by a string for the squirrels. It works!!! Very entertaining and cute as the dickens!

Signs of Spring

I like how the new spring buds on this tree branch are stretching up towards the sky. It evokes a life affirming growth.

Happy Easter from my new iPad

Happy Easter

This is my first posting using my iPad. I’m having to do a few workarounds in order to get this to work. Also, I was up practically all night with my iPad. It’s great, but not a replacement for a computer. My iPhone seems realy dinky now.

Burnie

I used to just catch brief glimpses of Burnie streaking away as I came out of the house.  It’s been about a year now and we’ve built a level of trust to where she will come in the house to eat.  I can pet her and she purrs.  It’s hard to catch her on film, but this is a pretty good photo of her.

Chris, the Banana Slug

There are some really nice healthy banana slug specimens around right now. Here is one in particular whom I’ve named Chris (acknowledging his/her’s hermaphrodite nature with an androgynous name).
