I’ve just read no self, no problem, by Anam Thubten. It turned out to be one of the best books on Tibetan Buddhism I have ever read. I like that his approach is so fundamental and straightforward in exposing our stories and fantasies about ourselves and how we live our lives under their illusion. He makes a convincing presentation of how we can’t believe in our fantasies and live in reality at the same time. A choice must be made. This book does an excellent job of actually bringing you to the place where it really can be a choice, and not just another fantasy.
I see that it would be very helpful to follow up this approach with a more in-depth exposure, so I have registered for Anam Thubten’s retreat at the Mt. Madonna retreat center the week of September 3rd through the 8th, 2009. I’m looking forward to it.
