Fireworks in Moraga
The fireworks show in Moraga has been my favorite way to celebrate the 4th for the past 5 years running. There’s an abundance of high quality effects that are nicely choreographed. What I like most is the intimacy of the gathering. There are never hordes of annoying spectators. It’s a relatively small gathering of nice [...]

Beer Can Chicken by Linnell
Linnell’s sister, Leslie, gave me a clever handcrafted ceramic beer can chicken roaster for my birthday recently (Earth Day). It was hand built by one of the artists at the Moraga Art Gallery. Linnell tested it out today and it worked wonderfully. The chicken was crispy on the outside with a moist and flavorful inside. [...]
Helicopter in La Honda
Apparently a utility worker was electrocuted today in La Honda. I think I’ll buy an inexpensive walking stick monopod for future treks. Click on each picture for [...]
HDR Photography
Here are photos from my first attempt at using HDR (High Dynamic Range) software. Very fascinating and sometimes astonishing surrealistic effects are possible. Click on each photo to get the full effect.

Squirrel Helmet
Linnell and I saw this somewhere on the Internet and decided to try it ourselves. You cut a big hole in the bottom of a coconut and hang it outside by a string for the squirrels. It works!!! Very entertaining and cute as the dickens!
My Grand Niece, Sophie
My niece and her husband visited the area and brought along their 3 1/2 month old daughter, my grand niece.
Signs of Spring
I like how the new spring buds on this tree branch are stretching up towards the sky. It evokes a life affirming growth.
Burnie
I used to just catch brief glimpses of Burnie streaking away as I came out of the house. It’s been about a year now and we’ve built a level of trust to where she will come in the house to eat. I can pet her and she purrs. It’s hard to catch her on film, [...]
