Here’s a wild mushroom-eating banana slug I encountered on a trail run through the redwoods in La Honda, California; my hometown.
I took this interesting photo of my shadow on the grass with my iPhone. I then used a new iPhone app to fill in the shadow with white. It turned out nicely.
Another little spontaneous doodle that emerged while contemplating chemical reaction mechanisms during a meeting.
My YouTube video Banana Slug in a Rush is up to 60,000 views as of today. Thought I’d post it here in the blog for your convenience.
The sequel in HD called La Honda Banana Slug Part II is not nearly as popular. I guess that’s normal for Hollywood sequels.
This is a remote posting from my iPhone, with images. It is a test. The photos are just some random images I just shot of my work environment.
I’ve just read no self, no problem, by Anam Thubten. It turned out to be one of the best books on Tibetan Buddhism I have ever read. I like that his approach is so fundamental and straightforward in exposing our stories and fantasies about ourselves and how we live our lives under their illusion. He makes a convincing presentation of how we can’t believe in our fantasies and live in reality at the same time. A choice must be made. This book does an excellent job of actually bringing you to the place where it really can be a choice, and not just another fantasy.
I see that it would be very helpful to follow up this approach with a more in-depth exposure, so I have registered for Anam Thubten’s retreat at the Mt. Madonna retreat center the week of September 3rd through the 8th, 2009. I’m looking forward to it.

I now know why my bedside water always tastes funny when I take a sip during the night.
